We are doing our part to control or otherwise end the COVID-19 epidemic by providing our clients with disinfection services that specifically target COVID-19 and other emerging viral pathogens.
The COVID-19 coronavirus requires a targeted service, as it persists on surfaces for 3 to 9 days, depending on the material. As people touch, rub against it, get it on their clothes, or even walk on it, it is spread to other floors, walls, doors, furniture, etc., both in and out of a facility, even by uninfected individuals. However, COVID-19 is similar to many other viruses, and can be killed with a variety of disinfectants. As advised by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “products with EPA-approved emerging viral pathogens claims are expected to be effective against COVID-19 based on data for harder to kill viruses” *
We primarily utilize dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride, which is a quaternary ammonium chloride approved by the CDC for COVID-19 for use in the most challenging facilities: hospitals. As prepared, it is also safe for humans, non-carcinogenic, non-corrosive, and biodegradable.
Disinfecting against the virus involves three critical processes:
1) The right disinfectant at the right concentration;
2) Complete coverage (even a small gap can continue to harbor the virus); and,
3) Prolonged contact with the virus (simply touching the virus will not kill it: the disinfectant must remain liquid and in contact long enough to destroy the protective cell walls).
